PDFL “Play for Babies” Campaign to Give Every Baby a Healthy Start in Life

(Tacoma, Washington, October 17, 2012)— Professional Development Football League (PDFL) is pleased to announce that the March of Dimes has been selected as their charity of choice. PDFL will “Play for Babies” in their ongoing fundraising campaign to support the mission-based programs of the March of Dimes. Critical funds raised will help the March of Dimes in their efforts to prevent premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality.

We believe in supporting our community, and what better way to do that than to fight for our future and the health of babies,” said PDFL Founder, Theo Hall. “The work of the March of Dimes is saving lives, and I know our “Play for Babies” campaign will make a difference.”

PDFL is 11 on 11 football played under NFL/PDFL rules. It is designed to give high caliber athletes and coaches a platform to display and improve their skills, with some athletes pursuing professional careers at the next level. The current teams coming into the PDFL as part of the American Developmental Conference (ADC) include the Boise Bandits, the Portland Boltz, the Seattle-Tacoma Cobras and the Utah Armageddon. Included in the National Developmental Conference (NDC) are the Carolina Knights, the Palm Beach Crush, the Georgia Invaders, the Charleston Snipers, the Miami Xtreme and the Virginia Colonials.

The 2013 Owners and Media Conferences will be held on October 20, 2012, at the Tacoma Dome Best Western in Tacoma, WA. The formal announcement of the “Play for Babies” campaign will be made at that time.

Every year, more than half a million babies are born too soon in the United States. Premature birth costs society more than $26 billion a year in medical costs, and it takes a high toll on families. Babies born just a few weeks early are at risk of severe health problems and lifelong disabilities. The March of Dimes helps moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. And if something goes wrong, we offer information and comfort to families. We research the problems that threaten our babies and work on preventing them.

About PDFL

The league is 11 on 11 football played under NFL./PDFL rules. It is designed to give high caliber athletes and coaches a platform to display and improve their skills with some pursuing professional careers at the next level. The Professional Developmental Football League vision. The vision for the PDFL is to create a professional league based on integrity in everything we do. The league focus will be on giving former collegiate/professional athletes an avenue to continue to play competitive football with ultimate goal of getting an opportunity to be invited to an NFL training camp. The reality of making it in the NFL is that the percentage of those athletes in college or other professional leagues is very small. With that in mind we are developing a mentor program for the players that will focus on resume writing, interviewing, networking, etc. The league will also provide internships in the players degree area in order to help them find future employment. The Players The majority of players on PDFL teams, have college football backgrounds playing previously at the D1, D2, or D3 level and have achieved their college degree. This ensures a higher level of professionalism, competition and dedication to the game. The PDFL teams also offer more to the community with the ability to advertise local businesses and attractions on televised games
