Portland Boltz get defensive with signing of linebacker Beau Gates

Two days after landing the best offensive player in the Northwest over the past five years, the Portland Boltz scooped up arguably the best defensive player in the region over that same time frame.

Linebacker Beau Gates brings his 12 years of minor league and arena league experience to the Portland Boltz after numerous decorated seasons that included him being named Greater Northwest Football Association’s defensive player of the year in 2008. Seven of those seasons were spent playing for Boltz head coach Aaron Fentress.

"Beau is easily one of my top five favorite player that I’ve ever coached," Fentress said. "I’m thrilled that he has elected to join the Boltz.
