By Pat Murphy / CBS 12 News PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Professional football is setting up shop in the Palm Beaches. The Palm Beach Crush will begin play in early May. The Professional Developmental Football League has been around for five years. They started with teams in Washington and Oregon. Now the league is expanding and the Palm Beach Crush are the newest franchise. They will play their games at Royal Palm Beach High School. Owner, Christian Alba said, it’s a league for players who dream big. The Crush start the season on ay 11 at home.
Today the Argos–who live by their motto of “Always get better”–have signed one of the great young coaches in the Salt Lake City area. J.R. Spears and the Argos have agreed on a contract with undisclosed terms to join the Argos’ already impressive coaching staff. Spears will hold the title of Wide Receivers Coach.
“This is an opportunity that I have worked hard for,” said Spears. “Coach Fayed has a vision, and that’s something I want to be a part of–to learn and grow within this organization.” an excited Spears stated. “The focus is to help these men achieve their dreams and mine as well.”
Spears is originally from Kemmerer, Wyoming, where he was a two-time All State Safety and Wide Receiver helping lead his defense in winning back-to-back state titles. In addition to football, Spears was also All Conference in Basketball where he was named team captain. After high school, Spears attended Southern Utah University where he lettered in Football.
