SALES AND MARKETING INTERNSHIPS:

Our Internship Program is designed to give exposure and experience on how a sales and marketing department for a major sport organization operates. Our emphasis is to provide significant challenges, varying daily operational requirements and opportunity for creativity, resourcefulness, and excellence. Our mission is to provide opportunities for one’s skills in areas of organization, planning, administrative, sales, and service through 1) hands-on experience 2) pride in a job well done, and 3) the knowledge that each intern’s work has benefited the company and has been useful to others. Final candidates will be selected to participate in a group interview process. Finalists will be contacted with the date of said interview. Applications will be kept on file until the start of the internship period in which you applied. HOURS REQUIRED: 40 hours per week and event/game days/nights. Starting early January 2013 and working through August.

SPONSORSHIP INTERN:

Your role here will be to support the sales managers and other members of the PDFL sponsorship team. Your support is vital to the success of securing new sponsors for the PDFL and will come in many different ways, leading to many different experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead generation – researching key sponsorship prospects, finding high level contact information and following up with sales managers on these leads
• Special Events – Assist both sponsorship team and special events team in planning and implementing various special events from client meetings to Sign Day events. some nights and weekends will be required.
• PDFL Bowl A Thon – Act as assistant in the planning of the annual PDFL and Ambassadors Charity Bowl A Thon. Field phone calls, assist in creation and distribution of marketing materials, coordinate pairings party and auction.
• Sponsor Summit – Assist in planning of VIP event for corporate sponsors.
• Client Interaction – Assist as needed in planning client meetings, participating in events, etc.
• Database – Cleansing, research and management of the PDFL sponsorship inventories including autographed items, contact information, etc.
• Tickets – Assist in organizing and delivering suite tickets, group tickets, and season tickets prior to the beginning of the season.
• Game Production – Assist in researching, collecting and organizing information for various game day entertainment components including National Anthem, Halftime, etc.
• PDFL Street Team – Assist marketing team in the delivery of items including, but not limited to pocket schedules.

SALES AND TICKET OPERATIONS INTERN:

The Sales & Ticket Operations Intern will gain experience by supporting the ticketing department with the day-to-day operations in the areas of ticket sales, ticket operations, customer service and luxury suites service. The intern will receive practical training in these areas and will also gain experience in event planning and account maintenance. The Sales and Ticket Operations Intern will be responsible to:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with servicing all levels of ticket account holders.
  • Understand the payment system and assist with processing payments and requests.
  • Maintain records and files.
  • Learn the techniques used in prospecting and acquiring new customers through both inside and outside sales.
  • Serve as a liaison between ticketing and other internal departments.
  • Handle departmental shipping and distribution of packages/parcels.
  • Service season ticket clients for PDFL football games.
  • Respond to inbound and in-person customer service inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Assist with the coordinating fulfillment and distribution of all mailings.
  • Provide event and game day assistance to ticket holders to include extensive problem resolution, ticket/seat upgrade processing and coordination of Will Call orders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • The ability to receive academic credit for the internship
  • Current enrollment in an accredited College or University preferably obtaining a degree in Sports Management, Business, or a related field
  • Housing available in the Tacoma area

CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS INTERN:

The Corporate Partnerships Intern will learn from the Director of Corporate Partnerships and our corporate partnership professionals to prospect, pitch, close new sponsors and maintain current sponsors. The intern will gain hands-on experience in professional sports marketing and business development. In addition to other tasks, the intern will assist in the design, development, and execution of intense marketing presentations for high-end decision-makers from prospective and current partners, interact with key executives and decision-makers from local, national, and international companies and learn the process of high-end sponsorship revenue development. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Corporate Partnerships Professionals in their focus to prospect, pitch and secure corporate sponsors/partners.
  • Assist in the design, develop and execution of corporate partnerships presentations.
  • Aid in the management of VIP events for corporate partnerships prospects.
  • Liaison with key executives and decision-makers from local, national and international companies.
  • Answer and disseminate inbound calls and respond to inquiries when requested.
  • All other duties as assigned.

PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN:

The Public Relations Spring Intern will gain experience by acting as a liaison between local, national, and international media and members of the organization. The position will include conducting daily content analysis of the organization among local and national media sources, coordinating media interviews for players/coaching staff, assisting with the development of the upcoming media guide and other team publications, providing support to local media during events like Scout Report, Rookie Minicamp and team OTAs, as well as various press conferences throughout the course of the internship. This position reports to the Public Relations Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting the Public Relations department with the development of communications plans supporting Organizational efforts.
  • Preparing press releases, media advisories and other relevant media collateral.
  • On-site interview facilitation and press support.
  • Conducting daily content analysis of the organization among local and national media sources (daily clips).
  • Organizing and assisting with the production of the media guide, yearbook and other team publications
  • Transcribing press conferences.
  • Helping the Public Relations Coordinator fulfill a variety of written requests as assigned.
  • Assisting with press releases to include mass release emails, mass test and intranet postings.
  • Aiding in project research at the request of football staff or media members.
  • Learning proper formatting and procedures for daily clips.
  • Answering and disseminating incoming calls to the Public Relations department.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Public Relations department.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Current enrollment in an accredited College or University. The pursuit of a degree in the fields of Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations is recommended, but not required.
  • Strong interviewing, writing and editing skills
  • The ability to produce material under strict deadlines
  • A variety of writing samples available upon request

SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN:

Support the Web Manager, Content, Production, and Web Coordinator with a focus on the Cobras social media platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and update a social media content calendar
  • Assist in the daily implementation of the social media content calendar
  • Assist in the monitoring of all social platforms and associated marketing efforts
  • Assist in the execution of various aspects of digital marketing campaigns to maximize outreach, fan engagement, and campaign performance
  • Help with the development and implementation of social growth opportunities and fan engaging programs
  • Assist the Web Manager, Content & Production and Web Coordinator, Content & Production in the creation of forms, emails, and graphics, as assigned
  • Help compile reports and statistics for all digital marketing campaigns, contests and initiatives
  • All other duties as assigned

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of social media websites, with a strong familiarity with Twitter, Facebook, and Google+
  • Educational concentration in web, marketing or communication-related concentration preferred

MARKETING INTERN:

The right individual will be able to work as part of a team or individually  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Monitor the various social media websites, including but not limited to the PDFL Facebook page. The interns are responsible for posting articles, updating content, including trivia and polls, monitoring spam and commenting modules, and researching ways to improve the league and teams social media websites.
  • Assist with marketing the social media websites to try to gain more members and increase activity on application such as Facebook and the PDFL Twitter accounts. Help with learning and teaching best practices to our media content team.
  • Assist with the expansion and growth of the PDFL CARES. The PDFL CARES is a new addition to the PDFL. The interns are responsible for helping advertise the PDFL CARES, coming up with ways to entice kids to join, and assisting in planning/running PDFL CARES events, even on weekends.
  • Assist with preparing presentation material for the PDFL corporate sponsors to make them aware of the various investment opportunities with the PDFL through different social media outlets and programs.
  • Documenting different PDFL events and uploading the pictures/videos onto various PDFL website.
  • Use different analytical tools provided by third-party vendors to help evaluate website traffic, ad banner performance and analyze the data to look for areas of improvement.
  • Researching potential vendors for the PDFL to partner with for future social media engagements, including barcode techniques, ringtones and mobile applications.

VIDEO PRODUCTION INTERN:

All candidates must have a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, as well as the ability to work on both Mac and Windows platforms. Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while keeping organized and maintaining the highest standard of design quality in all work. Experience with video editing (iMovie, SONY Vegas, Adobe etc.) a plus. This is an unpaid internship in the broadcast department. The person selected will assist the department with a wide variety of audio and video projects. This intern must have audio/video production experience. Our HD stadium and television shows, and new ventures in online video programming have taken on tremendous upgrades in philosophy and equipment, and we are eager to keep the ball rolling with energetic, artistic talent thirsty for experience. We give all interns real world, in-the-trenches experience, opportunities to enhance the department, and great referrals when we see them go. Production intern will shoot video, log, archive, and edit football content and features, and assist in Arrowhead’s control room show. Intern is a functional part of our team and must be coachable to learn proven award-winning philosophies in production. Travel is sometimes necessary and always reimbursed. Approximately 20 – 40 hours a week with flexible scheduling. Looking for multiple interns for each of the four seasons. Final Candidates will be selected to participate in an interview process. Finalists will be contacted to schedule an interview. Applications will be kept on file until the start of the internship period.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce/shoot/edit video elements to be used in-stadium, TV and/or Internet
  • Shoot, log, and archive football footage.
  • Projects include: Cheerleader events, local stories, football plays, web video edits and graphics, football practices and press conferences (with the PDFL Network) and 7 home football games at Cobras Stadium.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Video Production Experience including Writing, Non-Linier Editing (Avid/Final Cut), Camera Operation, Lighting and Audio Set Up.
  • Knowledge of After Effects and Photoshop and/or other relevant Multimedia software preferred.
  • Knowledge QuickTime, MPEG and various audio files (mp3/.wav) preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong creative skills that can be applied to TV, In-Stadium and Internet production applications.
  • Must be a willing and able team player, ready to learn new concepts and processes, and willing to travel for shoots when necessary.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
